It seems I’ve been triply honored. Three very kind bloggers have bestowed the Honest Scrap Award on me.

First, we have Once Upon an Equine who after years away from horses has been able to realize her dream of owning her own horses and now has two, Misty a Percheron mare and Marley a Norwegian Fjord gelding. Second is Horse of Course who is Swedish but lives in Norway. She has a beautiful talented mare Fame she is training and has some great stories and interesting rides. Third and last is Marissa whose blog Tucker the Wunderkind is a blog I just started to follow. Her horse is adorable. Check out her blog when you get the chance and see what the two of them are up to these days.

Ten things about me that you most likely don’t know

I’m an optimist. The glass is usually half-full.

I’d rather clean the barn than the house.

I would rather be outside than stuck inside any day.

I like gardening and planting beautiful flowers and enjoying whatever else Mother Nature has to offer in each season of the year. Autumn and Spring are my favorite seasons.

One of my favorite trips included the Grand Canyon, The Painted Desert and Petrified Forest, the Southwest deserts and their vibrant colors and rock formations are awesome sights.

A challenging course of jumps in Equitation classes was always one of my favorite parts of riding, especially if you were lucky enough to be called back for the test.

For 15 years, I rode a 17’2 hand Dutch Warmblood and before that, a 16’2 paint. Seems I’ve always had horses on the larger side. Now that I’m riding again and Dusty is my horse of choice because she’s sane and mostly dependable ( I can depend on her to be very opinionated) at 15’1 or 15’2 hands I feel like I am riding the pony I never had as a child. Dusty has been a lot of fun so far, she is still green and we have a lot to learn together, I just have to get used to riding an under-tall horse even if she is a tank.

I’ve been told I drive a little too fast sometimes, usually by intolerant state troopers with little or no sense of humor.

Cooking is one of my least favorite things to do.

Native American Indian history is one of my favorite cultures to study.

Finally, I’ve been known to swear like a pirate, most times while driving. This is more than likely due to men in spandex…on bikes… riding 3 or 4 abreast and refusing to move as if’ Team Testicle’ owns the road. Might I suggest that if you really feel the need to wear tights and a helmet, get a horse at least you’ll be off the roads. Does it sound as if I may need anger management classes?

Now on to passing this award to ten admirable bloggers. This is always hard since there are so many deserving blogs out there. I’ll just try to pick the ones that I think have not received this particular award yet.

One of my favorite horse blogs, The Journeys Of Cactus Jack Splash , has recently given me this award. Thank you Jack and DOR for the nice things you said about me on your blog. Jack is a wonderful and handsome Appaloosa who is desperately trying to teach his DOR (Dope On a Rope) how to become a better horsewoman. It’s a time consuming and sometimes-frustrating job but someone’s got to do it. Seriously, Jack’s mom is one very nice lady who is always trying to learn as much as she can to better her relationship with her horses. So I am honored that she thought of me for this particular award. Now the hard part is passing it on to seven other Kreativ bloggers. Since I feel everyone who has a blog is a Kreativ Blogger for simply writing and publishing posts I wouldn’t know where to start choosing just a few. In addition, since I don’t know how long this has been around and who has already been nominated I think I might just put it up for the taking. Apparently, I am not as interesting as I thought I was because I simply cannot come up with anything even remotely worth mentioning that hasn’t been written on previous blog posts. We’ll just have to leave it at that for now and I’ll work on finding a personality in the near future.

The Zombie Chicken Award

This particular award was bestowed on me by a wonderful girl who treats her horse (and a half) with unbridled love and attention .She is a rider who is always trying to do the best for her horses and better her riding skills .So I would like to thank On The Bit for this um different sort of award and for the kind things she said about me on her blog.

The Blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the Zombie Chicken – excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words. Van Gogh Award

Imagine my surprise when another award came my way shortly after the ‘Charming Award’. This has left me to conclude that February must officially be award month. This Van Gogh Award was presented to me by Dressage Mom . Thank you very much Dressage Mom, I am honored to receive this award and will do my best to pass it on to deserving bloggers. Although, all bloggers are deserving of this award just for having the courage to put themselves and their thoughts and ideas in a public forum, I must limit myself to a few and leave room for others to bestow this award to their favorite blogs. Lemonade Award

I have recently been honored with the Lemonade Award. I understand this award is for blogs that have/show a great attitude. Thank you Melanie from The Knutson Family for thinking that I have a great attitude. Melanie has an interesting blog with lots going on all the time and she’s always amusing. She has recently gone back to school, has some wonderful kids and horse stories and she does have a good attitude about life that shows through in her writing.

Now on to the award. It’s an awfully cute little Lemonade stand evoking memories of bygone days and childhood innocence. It brings to mind when my children were youngsters and would set up their Lemonade stand on the sidewalk in front of our house. My husband and I will always stop for a roadside lemonade stand, it means so much to the children and we like to encourage free enterprise at an early age.
