Next I had to change the huge water bottle on the dispenser because it was empty. Well, as I pulled it off it cracked me squarely in the nose. Ouch! It still hurts but I’ll live.
The rest of the day was spent going out to the barn to check on Sami. It has been raining buckets on and off all day with high winds and some thunderstorms with lightening thrown in for good measure. So running between the raindrops and dodging lightening bolts was a fun part of the day.
Then tonight as I was bringing the horses in I was treated to another thunderstorm and we all got totally soaked. After I put Surpass on Sami’s leg and fed I headed into the tack room for their nightly carrot treat. That’s when I heard the digital fence box beeping and blinking red. Swell, it wasn’t working again, which is not a good thing since I’m training Nikita to not leave the property with her collar on and the underground fence as her boundary. It wasn’t working a week ago and I had the guy come out and fix it. I just sent off the check for two hundred dollars today so they’ll be getting a call tomorrow.
In the meantime I have to walk the two dogs on leashes to do their business. Ginger is good she’s an absolute machine. Nikita, not so much, it takes her a good ten minutes to find just that perfect spot. Of course, they both had to go out after dinner and it was still pouring.
I’m hoping that since things seem to come in threes that’s about it for the day today. Then again there’s always tomorrow!
Until next time
Quote for Today
Sometimes you’re the statue a sometimes you’re the pigeon!
Sami sure is cute. I hope he feels better soon. I'm sure you do too. I know all about walking dogs out on leashes during thunderstorms and trying to get them to get down to business. That's my life. It's so frustrating when someone repairs something and it immediately breaks. My husband took his Cadillac into the dealership for a bunch of work, and the engine started stuttering after he got it home. He discovered that they put Chevy spark plugs in the Cadillac and they weren't even connecting properly. Our ice maker broke down today and our refrigerator is only a few months old.
ReplyDeleteI think he's feeling better today. He's walking better so that a plus.
DeleteThose days are tough but you dealt with all of it. I hope that Sami heals up quickly.
ReplyDeleteI guess there's nothing to do but power through it all.
DeleteThere certainly are days we would rather pass on. Makes a person wonder what the %$#!? The good thing is, today is a new day!! I feel your "wish your dog would hurry up & poop" in the rain, pain. Our underground fence was broken more then it worked. We've been through several sets, never tried a service. Hope they come fix the real problem, and soon. Poor Brad was either fixing our line, or the collars. Since we are moving & our old dog doesn't go anywhere too fast these days, we've given up on it. Underground fencing is great, when it works. Sami has a beautiful face!! Hope he heals up sooner then later. Fun seeing the inside of your awesome barn!!
ReplyDeleteThe guy is coming out to fix it this afternoon. They think there's another break in the line. So that's great. Sami is doing better today.
DeleteNothing can bring me to the point of seething quite like when I've PAID someone to fix or install something, and then it doesn't work. Rage, I tell you! I feel quite certain though, that you will be much kinder & more gracious than I would be when you speak to those nincompoops.
ReplyDeleteOh the look on Sami's face! A-dor-able.
I figure if I give them a hard time they'd never show up so I'm putting on my sweet as can be voice. They're coming out this afternoon. Sami is awfully cute, thanks.
DeleteI hate it when my horses come up lame, but at least it sounds like it is something curable with a little rest. I do think it all comes in heaps. At least, in my experience. We used to have troubles keeping dogs on our property until we fenced the entire 14 acres in with impenetrable wire. LOL. Everything else had failed and our neighbors weren't happy, so it has solved all those problems and made life MUCH easier here.
ReplyDeleteMost of the property is fenced except for some spots that lead to the roads. Unfortunately, they can get under the fences and gates so I needed the underground fencing. Can't wait til it's fixed. Again!
DeleteAw poor Sami, hope he's feeling much better and he gets to rejoin his pals soon; he's such a cutie! What a day!! Well done for soldiering on through it. Hope things have been better since and hope the fence has been well and truly fixed.
ReplyDeleteWhat an apt quote!
Hi Joy,
DeleteThe fence was repaired last night. Sami is out today in a small paddock with Donnie and it's stopped raining/snowing so things are looking up!
That is one gorgeous photo of Sami. So glad he is improving. We have had the same horrific weather you have experienced and have a LOT of standing water. Today it is sunny and perfect, going up to 70! Yes. It's going to take a very long time for it to dry out around here. Would love to read more about what's happening with your new pup.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lori, we think Sami is awfully cute too. He's doing well.
DeleteI'll get to a post about the new pup and Ginger in a few days. They aren't getting along all that much sometimes and I'm hoping they can work it out soon.
