Wow! If you took me there blindfolded and plopped me down in it and told me I was on another planet, I'd believe it!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping she sends me a few more pics. Apparently, there were herds of sheep roaming free all over the place. And there were lots more landscape pics too.
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI agree it is gorgeous there.
DeleteYour daughter's photos are phenomenal! How was the ride on the Icelandic?
ReplyDeleteShe loved the ride. The horses were on the small side but sturdy. They gave her the lead mare who was a little difficult to handle since she was an experienced rider. Once she started listening they had fun.
DeleteNow I am going to have to do a little research on Iceland. Had no idea it was so beautiful. The pictures are gorgeous and it sounds like your daughter had quite a trip.
ReplyDeleteI think if you want a cool place to be in the summer this fits the bill. They had to wear sweatshirts most of the time. Can't imagine the winters.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! The many-talented daughter! Wish I could take a trip there but for now love traveling vicariously via these photos. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteShe does like to travel to different places and see new things.
DeleteYour photos are amazing - I'm definitely adding Iceland to my travel bucket list!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely adding it to my travel list too.
DeleteBeautiful, serene, majestic. Great pics! What an adventure! It's refreshing to see that tourism can also include fresh air and green space instead of concrete and neon lights. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's my kind of vacation. I hope to get there some day. I'm glad they were home a week before the red alert went out for the volcano they were near
DeleteHey GHM, hope you and your family have been enjoying the summer.
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible place - so much variety all in one place. And your daughter's photos are gorgeous! Love the waterfall one. And the horses - adorable! How wonderful that she got a chance to have a ride. Seeing as its not that far really, I might well add it to my list of places to go :) Thanks so much for sharing
If she hadn't gone there I don't think it would have been on my list of priorities but it is now.
DeleteWow! It really is a beautiful and rugged country, isn't it? That second photo had me hanging onto my chair...good grief, they're so close to the edge!! And those glaciers are just amazing. That's not something you see everyday. And yes, Icelandics are just adorable. Sturdy, hairy and cuddly...but amazingly tough and agile too. We have a client that has made that trip several times, and she does this cross-country ride where you pick a pony and go in a large group. The entire herd of ponies runs along with you, and at some point, everyone unsaddles and picks a new pony for the second leg of the ride. Sounds like it would be exhilarating! Such an adventure.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about that second picture. I wasn't too thrilled to see them standing on the edge either. She only had time for an hour ride and not the longer one along the seaside but maybe next time.
ReplyDeleteWow, those are some beautiful photos :)
ReplyDeleteYes it pretty amazing. Now if she would only send me more...
DeleteWow! Thanks for sharing all these beautiful photos. The second one is special, whoever stayed back had great vision. I love watching the Icelandic horses at our fair, can't imagine riding them in their beautiful homeland. Sounds like a dream.
ReplyDeleteI think my daughter took that picture before she ventured out there herself. She had fun with the horses and would love to go back.
DeleteBeautiful! The scenery looks a lot more spectacular than it did where Of Horses and Men was filmed. Did your daughter get to tölt?
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing is she doesn't know if she did the tolte. The mare they gave her was very green and very badly behaved. She spent most of the time getting her under control before she got a decent trot from her. I think the lesson here was never say you're an experienced rider. She didn't mind she ad fun anyway. She's a trainer and loves to teach unruly horses there's a better way.
DeleteBeautiful! I've always wanted to go there.
