Frosty days and ice-still nights,
Fir trees trimmed with tiny lights,
Sound of sleigh bells in the snow,
That was Christmas long ago.
Tykes on sleds and shouts of glee,
Icy-window filigree,
Sugarplums and candle glow,
Part of Christmas long ago.
Footsteps stealthy on the stair,
Sweet-voiced carols in the air,
Stocking hanging in a row,
Tell of Christmas long ago.
Starry nights so still and blue,
Good friends calling out to you,
Life, so fact, will always slow...
For dreams of Christmas long ago.

thanks for the lovely xmas poem. i admit i've been a bit of a grinch this year. there has been a lot going on, my house is a mess so i didn't even bother to decorate, and the world just seems like such a horrible place lately, I haven't been much in a christmas mood. the last thing i have wanted to do was shop, wrap presents and deal with all the fake commercialism and hype. but i do miss the warmth and fun of those good old christmases past. so that's what i'm looking forward to this year - a good old fashioned xmas like only mom can do :-)

ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas to you and yours. May the peaceful spirits of our equines bring out the peace in us.
ReplyDeleteLovely reminder indeed, Arlene.
ReplyDeleteThankyou.
There does seem a chill in the air this year, not from weather, but making the bones ache. Ive done more than usual massages on shoulders ,heads and toes for clients...even my mare! One way or another- well all figure things out and see to blue skies!
From the sound of things, your home will be a familiar, gathering place that invokes the heart to rest. Once filled with peace, resolve itself to carry on into the world.
Joy to you and yours,
Christmas Blessings to all!
