Dusty celebrated her 19^th birthday on July 8th.  Where does the time go?  It seems like only a short time ago she was a feisty five year old and now she’s a mature lady of nineteen. 

Dusty is a smart yet very opinionated mare with lots of talent. She will absolutely not put up with anything that doesn’t feel right to her.  We’ve had our ups and downs over the years but it’s always been interesting and mostly lots of fun.  Thank you Dusty for always making me ride with my head and my heart.

It’s hard for me to believe that Dusty is 18 years old today.  I’ve had her since she was a frisky five year old and I can say she really hasn’t mellowed much over the years.  Dusty is still very opinionated and doesn’t take any guff from the boys in the herd or me for that matter!  Yet, she can be very sweet when it suits her purposes and I wouldn’t have her any other way.  Being her unique Dusty self is what makes her so special.

We’ve come a long way in our friendship and training and I hope we continue together for a long time to come. Happy Birthday my sweet girl.  I’m sure there might be a carrot or treat in your future today.

Dusty’s Birthday

Dusty celebrated another birthday on July 8 when she turned seventeen.  Unfortunately, I was busy and forgot it.  Could be why she’s been so grumpy and unsociable with me lately.  I thought it was just the weather and the bugs making her crabby.  Thank goodness a few Stud Muffin treats and carrots go a long way to getting me back in her good graces.  

Hope you enjoy Dusty's slideshow as much as I did making it.  It was amazing how many moments I had forgotten since we came to know her as a five year old.  All of our horses have their own song and Van Morrisson's 'Tupelo Honey' is Dusty's special song. It just seems to fit her and it's one of my favorite oldies.
