Bored Horses

This is a short post of pictures.  There's not much going on here due to the weather.  One day it's snowing like crazy and the temps are in the single digits or below zero at night and then two days later its in the 50's. Go figure.  The horses are bored with no grass and only hay baskets to eat from. The only excitement in their day is to either mill around aimlessly or push one another off a particularly tasty morsel from the salad bar.

  1. I am ready for winter to be over!! I am getting bored with being inside and all the white. I want some colour!

    1. Color would be nice! I can't even get down to the indoor because our plow guy plowed the snow high up on the doors so there's no entry into it until some snow melts.

  2. So much snow!!! I can't get my head around the temperatures/weather that you've been suffering! We've been lucky here in the south of England, just lots and lots of rain. Very easy for me to say the snow looks gorgeous, and the horses and dogs look gorgeous in the snow, though I can imagine their boredom.
How's Sami getting on? He's looking good and as cute as ever.
Fingers crossed, the white stuff will be gone soon!

  3. Sami is done fine. He's a good boy. I'll be happy to see the last of the snow. Hopefully sooner than later!

  4. You can send your snow to WI. They have, or had, some up north - but we have none! It's pouring rain, sad when southern states get more snow then WI!!! We are having the crazy weather rollercoaster too. Can't believe your plow guy did that, he would be moving that pile if he worked for me. Not what I really wanted to say, but name calling isn't nice. Horses look great!! Is Nikki full grown? Cute dogs!

    1. Well, about the plow guy...he's a neighbor that does it for nothing so I really can't bitch about it since he's doing me a big favor. Nikki was 2 in November. She's bigger than she looks in the picture and Ginger will be 2 next month. I think you're further North than we are but I'm not down south more like upstate N.Y.

  5. Love seeing the herd including the pups! We have the milling around thing going on too. I normally love winter but this year I’m ready for spring.

    1. I usually don't mind winter but this year it's starting to get annoying. I don't mind the snow but the freezing temps got to me.

  6. All horses who live in snow country must think winter is a real downer. Ours are bored too.

    1. They’re probably seeing green grass pastures in their dreams and then wake up again to white inedible snow! No wonder they’re annoyed.

  8. You’ve still got a lot of snow. What extremes in temperature ! We’ve been holding steady around 40 for highs. When the sun comes out, I don’t care what the temperature is, but I sure do miss the sun when it’s gone for long periods. Your horses are all look fat and happy and Rosie looks well adapted. ❤️ Spring is on its way.

    1. We’ve had big swings in temp. Today 55 and raining and foggy. They are all fat from grazing hay baskets all day! Rosie is doing well but becoming sort of a bully to Grady and she kicked Blue in the leg so he’s lame now. She only likes Sami.

    2. Oh no! Those poor boys. I never know what my mares are going to do. They’re pretty grumpy. Mine pick a boy, and then they get real territorial. Even my super nice mare, Penny, got crazy when she fell in love with Little Joe. She kept chasing Cowboy out of the pasture. I have to keep him separate now. 😭

    3. I think if she keeps kicking and biting she will be removed from the pasture. The boys have gotten along fine for years so it’s not fair to them to separate them. Thanks for the input.

    4. Yes, our geldings always got along great—it’s the mares. We have more mares now than geldings 6 to 2. I may have to separate the geldings together this spring because the mares keep flirting and Little Joe is proud cut. Good luck.

  9. I am so excited to be reading your blog again. Those pictures remind me why I am always so envious of your and your "ponies." I just had to stop reading for awhile when I had to say good bye to horses for a bit, it was just to hard to think about horses when I couldn't have one. I hope you remember me, I used to have the blog Fearless Rider. I know you are busy but I started a new blog if you want to check it out. https://fearlessriderreturns.blogspot.com/
