Saw this on You Tube and thought it was very amusing. It's a crow with a cap from a mayonnaise jar sledding down a roof top. We all know crows are very smart but this one really has a good time for itself. I was thinking back to when I was a kid and did lots of sledding in the winter. The worst part was always dragging the sled or saucer back up the hill. Wish I would have had wings, sledding would have gone a lot easier and been a little less tiring.
Until next time
Love crows! Very cute video. They are so smart and very family-oriented. I was driving through my neighbourhood a while back and came across a dead crow on the side lawn of a house, with its mate standing over the body, cawing. I pulled over to check to make sure the the crow was indeed dead (it was) and not just injured. Up in the tree above the two was a small group of other crows. It was like they were showing respect for the fallen buddy. It was very touching.
ReplyDeleteThat is brilliant, thanks for sharing. Amazing watching it work out the best place to sled. Yup, wings are definitely a bonus. We get a quite a number of crows, jackdaws and magpies here; great view of them from the back window, and their cawing is what usually wakes me nowadays, which I quite enjoy.
ReplyDeleteRead a really good book about corvids a while ago (don't think I got around to reviewing it) called 'Corvus: A Life With Birds' by Esther Woolfson, about the various corvids and sundry birds she ended up rescuing up in Scotland.
of course, you know I LOVE this!!!!!!

Smart and knows how to have fun... love it! :D
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty funny!
ReplyDeleteFascinating. I've been thinking of writing a post about the "crow couple" that hang out with my herd. Whenever I lead a horse out of the barn, the crows make clip-clop sounds in time with the horse's feet striking the ground. I have started talking to them, and so now every time they see me, they make a ruckus to see what I'm going to say.
ReplyDeleteOh wow!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that was soooo cool! I just love it!! I've always heard that they were very smart, but obviously they have a sense of humor and a love of play too. I always think that we humans are quite arrogant to believe that we're the only beings to be so much more than what's seen on the surface.
ReplyDeleteFascinating and amusing. Thank you so much for sharing this. Happy New Year and warm greetings from Montreal, Canada.
