A Whole Lotta Nothing

There’s really not much going on around here except the day-to-day routine.  Dusty had a slight flare up of her hind suspensory but she’s fine now.  The summer is winding down and life around here is peaceful.  I’ll post more when something interesting happens but until then I guess I’ll be absent for a while and simply enjoy the horses and life in general. Hope you’re all having wonderful rides and fun with your horses.

 Until next time

    1. Thank you Stephanie. They seem to like the freedom they have here. Sometimes they don't even bother to come in at night.

  2. Glad to hear that all is well with you.

Those are my favorite kinds of pics. Gorgeous horses out in the pasture...just being who they are!

    1. We've got a herd of individuals who definitely enjoy the good life. Relaxing and eating for the most part.

  4. Lovely pics, as always, they look so relaxed ... Is that pond/lake on your property? Great pix, with the ripples.

    1. Hi Joy,

The pond is on the property. The geese have taken it over and make a mess wherever they walk, especially the driveways. Careful where we walk because it's like a mine field!

  5. My gosh, I think I could sit and stare at that every possible moment I had too! By all means enjoy all that is peaceful in your little bit of paradise there. So very pretty. I am very glad that Dusty's injury was short lived and she continues to be healthy and happy! Of course, good health to them all!
I haven't had a whole bunch going on either, I did manage to get a post up finally.

I'll have to check out your post. Haven't seen one since Fred's birthday...I think?

  9. Lovely photos of your lovely farm. We have a lot of nothing here as well. Took my son to college and am trying to manage how much I miss him. We're having 3 and 4-day stretches of cooler weather, then it returns to high 80s, low 90s for a stretch. As soon as the nights start reliably hitting the 50s I'm going to take the cue and get the Big Bay back into riding gear. (and myself - yesterday for the first time in a while I could feel myself in the saddle, posting Keil Bay's huge trot - usually that pulls me back to the riding life... :))

I will be SO happy to get to fall this year. I need the change of season even more than usual.

    1. Hi Billie,

It's hard when they grow up and leave isn't it? But we do have to let them go at some point. I'm sure you'll get used to it after a while.

I'm happy that you're getting the feeling to ride again. The cooler weather is just around the corner :)

  12. Beautiful shots! My blood pressure seems lower after just viewing them - thank you for sharing. Your grass is still so very green, this time of year our grass is dead and brown, crunchy and thirsting for the fall rains soon to come. We have cool weather grasses that thrive in all seasons except summer. I feel much the same as you, lazy days of summer and have no real desire to do much of anything. Wish I had some time off from work, I can envision myself floating in the pool, reading a good book and enjoying a glass of wine...doesn't that sound nice? No rest for the weary...or the wicked, apparently! :)

  13. Sounds like you have a great plan. I can get behind it I, have the wine and the book but sadly no pool.

  14. Gorgeous photos - I do love Dusty, she is so pretty! Hope her leg is ok... at least you are not overtaxing her with work by the sound of it! My guys have had a really easy time up to now, but it's cooling down and I want to get back in the saddle!

  15. Feel free to post beautiful pictures every time you have "nothing going on." I love looking at your horses :)

  16. I have a hunch that your "nothing much is going on" would be my very full day of everything going on! Glad life is peaceful and we can all look forward to cooler days and restful nights.

  17. Hi D.J.,

There's still always something to do. Just haven't been riding much. With the cooler temps coming in that should change. Hope all is well with you.

  19. Hello, I have been reading your blog for about two years now. I found out about blogs while resting after my heart attack.I am an older rider and your writing gives me encouragement. I just created a web site, and as an older rider I would like to do a survey article on favorite comfort products.
Do you have a product e.g socks, saddle cover pad, boots, back brace,or gloves, that you can't live without? Something - anything that makes riding comfortable for you. Thank you. My email is besthorseproductsreview@gmail.com

  22. Now, that's a daily routine I could grow very fond of. Love the ducks in the pond. That pic took me right back to happy childhood memories. I used to love to feed ducks in the pond. I'm not online much either. Too busy enjoying my horse! Will post more when the snow flies and I'm stuck inside.
